With this funding platform, the Federal Employment Agency is launching one of its key IT initiatives for the coming years: a modern low-code platform on which over 100 different public benefit and funding programs are implemented through configuration. The platform is built on PEGA and SAP Social Service Management (SSM).
As part of this program, we are looking for experienced senior PEGA developers who will play a key role in shaping the architecture and development of reusable funding components (Förderbausteine) and generic applications within an agile, international environment.
You will take on responsibilities within a specialized team and work closely with the business unit, product owners, and architects at the Federal Employment Agency.
If you’re interested in contributing to a project that has a demonstrable social impact—and at the same time would like to work in a technologically sophisticated, professionally structured PEGA environment—we look forward to receiving your application.
Your profile
You are an experienced PEGA specialist who thinks in terms of platforms and clean architecture, and you are committed to delivering maintainable, configurable, and long-term stable solutions. Ideally, the following points apply to you:
- At least 3 years of solid experience with the PEGA low-code platform—with a clear focus on platform architecture, configurability, maintainability, and sustainable reusability (modularization).
- Proven expertise in developing generic PEGA applications with extension points for business-specific specializations, as well as in creating and configuring Smart Shapes and reusable components.
- At least 2 years of experience in quality assurance in accordance with ISO/IEC 9126 (maintainability, configurability, reusability, stability).
- Solid knowledge of UX design using PEGA Constellation and the implementation of accessible applications (WCAG 2.0, BITV 2.0).
- Experience in test automation for PEGA components and in using the PEGA Deployment Manager for CI/CD.
- Familiar with agile methodologies (Scrum), JIRA/Confluence, and structured test and requirements management methods.
- Additional plus: Experience with SAP Social Service Management (SSM) integration, budget allocation, service items, or approval processes based on the dual-control principle.
- Excellent written and spoken German (at least B2, ideally C1) – Project communication will be conducted in German.
- Willingness to undergo an extended security clearance (Ü2) from the Federal Employment Agency – or an existing Ü2 clearance.
Your tasks
As a Senior PEGA Developer, you will play a key role in one of our teams in the area of application development or funding modules. Your responsibilities will include, in particular:
- Analysis and design of business requirements in collaboration with the business team, product owners, and architects – including an assessment of whether existing modules can meet those requirements.
- Development of potential solutions, including associated cost estimates, and coordination with all relevant stakeholders.
- Implementation in PEGA: Development of generic applications and/or reusable components in strict compliance with architectural specifications and development guidelines.
- Responsibility for the quality of development artifacts—including code quality, test execution, test documentation, and bug fixing.
- Ensuring the maintainability, configurability, reusability, and stability of the software throughout its entire lifecycle.
- Preparation of documentation for the taking-over line team and ongoing maintenance of the developed components.
- Active participation in an agile, interdisciplinary environment—with a willingness to take on related tasks in line with the Scrum methodology.
- Close collaboration with other PEGA teams, SAP SSM specialists, as well as the architects and product owners at the Federal Agency.
